Compassionate, the Merciful.
﴿١﴾ وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ
1. By the sky full of
constellations.
﴿٢﴾ وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ
2. And by the Promised
Day.
﴿٣﴾ وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
3. And by the witness
and the witnessed.
﴿٤﴾ قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ
4. Destroyed were the
People of the Trench.
﴿٥﴾ النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ
5. The fire supplied
with fuel.
﴿٦﴾ إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
6. While they sat around
it.
﴿٧﴾ وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
7. And were witnessing
what they were doing to the believers.
﴿٨﴾ وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ
الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ
8. They took vengeance
on them only because they believed in Allah the Almighty, the Praised.

The Cursed Trench of Najran — Complete Short Story
Near
the ancient ruins of Al-Ukhdood, the desert keeps a place the wind refuses to
cross.
Lina
arrives at dusk. Blackened stones surround a silent trench. At its edge she
finds three carved symbols: a circle, a triangle, and three lines. When she
touches them, the ground pulses once.
That
night, as she walks away, her footsteps echo twice.
The
wind uncovers a hidden path and a fourth symbol appears — a spiral. Beneath it,
words form in the sand:
“What
is buried is not gone.”
A
narrow passage opens below the trench. Inside, the air is cold and still. In
the center stands a black stone that reflects no light. Carved into its
surface:
“Memory
is the second fire.”
When
Lina touches the stone, voices fill the chamber — not sounds, but emotions:
fear, resolve, silence. She understands: the trench does not hold bodies… it
holds stories.
At
dawn, the entrance seals. One final message remains where she stood:
“Some
places do not seek visitors. They seek witnesses.”
Lina
leaves before sunrise.
The desert returns to calm.
But sometimes, in perfect silence, she hears an echo that is not hers.
Ending:
The trench is not cursed. It is remembering.
